Rubbish Guide

This project stemmed from an academic brief at Central Saint Martins in London where each student was tasked with creating a visual representation of a chosen area that acted as an investigative exploration through visualisation and observation. I chose to pursue this through the lens of waste around my chosen area and modelled the project as an instructional guide to observation and how the recognition of an areas waste habits can paint a picture of the community and the geographical setting. I used interviews, found objects, mapping and images to construct the book’s contents, culminating in a step-by-step guide to recreating this observational experiment. As a finishing touch, I packaged the book in air tight plastic, resembling the the trash found on the street as well as making a version that was packaged in recycled plastic bags.
